Meanwhile, for men, annual death rate for alcoholic men (same sample study) was 1.26 percent, while for non-alcoholic men, it was just 0.66.
However, if you are a heavy drinker or abuses alcohol, and you want to quit and you are serious about quitting, you must be cautious about it. Reason is that, since your body took a while to adapt to alcohol, it will not be easy for it to re-adapt to non-alcoholism. This is called alcohol withdrawal syndrome. Symptoms can go from mild to severe. And the symptoms can be nausea, fever, sweating, headache, insomnia, hallucination, seizures which can be mistaken for epilepsy and sometimes, schizophrenia.
